The MMA is a non-profit organization that has supported the award-winning, district-wide Medfield Music Program since 1972.
Working in partnership with the music staff, the MMA raises funds and provides volunteer support for a range of efforts and activities to enhance and enrich the K-12 music curriculum, and support Medfield music students. The MMA helps bridge the gap where the school budget falls short.
MMA funds are generated and allocated to meet a variety of needs and requests, including visiting clinicians, commissioned pieces, festival participation, ensemble recordings, teacher professional development and parent education. The MMA also awards a significant number of student scholarships.
The MMA also helps to engage the Medfield community in the music program, providing a connection to current music parents, alumni, other types of music supporters and patrons, including local arts and business organizations, with the common goal of furthering the benefits of music education and sharing the joy of music.
Anyone who cares about the Medfield Music Program can become involved in the MMA, which typically meets the first or second Tuesday of each month during the school year. The MMA’s signature event is Spaghetti with Santa and A Few Winter Friends (since 1973), and concerts such as Jazz Night, A Cappella Night, and Strings Night, are collaborative Music Department/MMA initiatives. Dates for all MMA meetings and events are listed on the master Music Department calendar. Special thanks to long-time lead sponsor Needham Bank for all that it does to partner with the MMA to support the Medfield Music Program.
